Today in Mathland we learned all about hyperbolas! They have a pretty interesting conic section. The formula for a horizontal parabola is (x-h)^2/a^2 - (y-k)^2/b^2=1 and for a vertical hyperbola the formula is (y-k)^2/a^2 - (x-h)^2/b^2. As long as you stick to the formulas you can't go wrong.
Hyperbolas and ellipses are almost the same exact thing except for the plus or minus signs. Hyperbolas have minus signs while ellipses have a plus sign. As long as we understand the equations we should have no problem with both ellipses and hyperbolas. The picture makes the equations much more clearer. Thank you for the picture!
